The registration clerk is responsible for obtaining important information from patients required to carryout specific business functions. The clerk’s main objective is to obtain the information which the Hospital requires in order accurately bill insurance companies, assure a steady cash flow, and to assure that the Hospital’s patient medical records are accurate. 

Responsibilities

 

*Complies with PENN HIGHLANDS BROOKVILLE  policies and procedures, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state or local law and regulations

 

Ask patient name and date of birth for proper identification

 

Reviews all patient information prompted by Medi-Tech

 

Knowledge of insurance websites and uses appropriately

 

Knowledge of  registration types for CriticalAccessHospital  billing

 

Pre-registration for Surgical Day Care patients, scheduled procedure list

 

 

Effectively and efficiently files patient orders faxed by Physician’s offices.

 

 

Demonstrates a knowledge of client lists and registration information pertaining individuals from nursing homes.

Verifies patient insurance information via insurance web sites.

 

 

Demonstrates knowledge of insurance authorizations for both in and outpatient procedures.

Obtains signatures for letters from Medicare and Blue Cross.

 

 

Obtains required signatures for each registration type.

 

 

General duties as directed.

 

 

 

Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or equivalent required
  • Background in healthcare preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, typing skills
  • Medical Terminology preferred
